Through the Years...

Back in the days of film cameras....(I  know some people still use them, but where do you even buy film anymore?)...I had to be careful about how many pictures I took.  So as I sift through all my old pictures many times I find that I only took one or two pictures of something--especially if it was just pictures on a random day and not some special event.  A pile of these random pictures is how I came up with this idea for a fun page about the boys using pictures that didn't really go together and were, in fact, not even taken at close to the same time.

The cut outs that I used on these page are really cute but I have no idea what brand they are or what store might carry them.  The page is very simple--I just used the cutouts and plain card stock for the most part.  I do have some brads and and I used foam tape on the squares to make them raised, but other than that it's a pretty basic page.

The little airplane is raised up on pop dots and I attached the sign with eyelets and string so it would look like the plane is pulling it.

The fun part about this page is the journaling.  I got this idea from someone else online, so I can't take credit, but I will share.

On each picture (you might be able to see it if you look hard) there is a number that corresponds to the journaling block.  The pictures all have a basic theme of the boys being together, so they fit with the cutout theme about boys,  but because all the pictures were taken at various times, I decided I really wanted to keep track of dates and places.  So my journal strip has numbers with the dates and a blurb about the picture.  It was a great way to combine many different activities into one layout!

I've been wanting to work on more of these random pictures lately, so maybe another page like this is going to be in the works soon...

Family

For a long time I had a hard time getting family pictures taken. Mostly because of the expense, but my mom got a new camera and was willing to take the pictures for us, that made it a lot easier on the wallet! Now that the kids are older it's even harder because we can't get everyone together, let alone coordinate clothes, because everyone knows that is a must if you're going to have a family picture taken! This was one of our funnest family photo shoots! I only have one regret! Bryan and I should have gotten in there and jumped in the air with our kids! Although I'm not sure jumping like that is a good idea for me, not quite sure if I would land on my feet!
This page is done with a storytellers club pack! I just love them! We used to get the greatest deals at the scrapbook expo, but they haven't been there in awhile. I also have to give credit to my mom for helping me with the layout! I knew I wanted to scrapbook the pictures and knew what storytellers pack I wanted to use, but was not coming up with any ideas on how to lay it out. She is really good at putting pages together and all of her pages are cute! I used Kiwi Lane templates. The pattern paper is from Three bugs in a Rug. I love love love their paper! I have almost one full paper box with just Three Bugs paper in it.

I inked the edges of everything and added a few buttons and brads. Easy Peasy! Best thing about storytellers is that it has everything you need in it, borders, sayings, punch outs!
Favorite picture on the page? The picture in the corner, with my son pouting I think it's so funny! Mostly because it is a fake pout! I have so much fun with my boys, they make me laugh everyday!
Super fun pictures and a super fun and easy layout!

You've Got a Friend in Me

This is one of my all time favorite pages and it's because I LOVE the photos!  They tell such a great story and I can still remember this time at Disneyland as though it were yesterday...

Because we had so many kids with our group, we told them everyone needed to have a buddy and stick with that buddy at all times.  These two cute cousins took our admonition very seriously and soon the "Buddy Walk" was born...After getting off every ride they would immediately wrap arms around shoulders and walk in sync wherever they went.  What cute little boys!

This was a super easy page to do because everything but the title came in a coordinating kit from My Mind's Eye.  Since we were at Disneyland I felt the title seemed particularly fitting.  I especially love the photo in the circle taken from behind with the sun glare...and the other one from behind shows how in step they were with each other.

The letters all came from Scrapworks--the white ones are rub ons and the word "friend" is glittered chipboard.  The other small letters that say "in me" (that you can't see in this picture) are from Hobby Lobby--part of their Parts collection and they are brads.

I love that all of these kits from My Mind's Eye come with a cute saying that fits the packet...it saves me a lot of time when I don't have to look for my own quotes and sayings.  And even though I really enjoy making those labor-intensive pages that I make (yes, I'm a weirdo and I embrace it!) it's also fun to have an easy page that comes together really fast sometimes too.   Scrapbooks really should be all about preserving the memories and the pictures, and that's why this is one of my favorites.

Gettin Dirty!

We took the kids four wheeling with my Aunt and Uncle and had a blast. Now anyone that knows me knows how much I hate dirt! I have always liked my kids to look and smell clean! So I nearly had a stroke when they got back from their long ride on the four wheelers and Parker actually had dirt braces he was so filthy! I think it took 3 baths to get them clean, but it sure made for a fun scrapbooking page!!
I love We R Memory Keepers!!! They have the cutest paper! This paper is from their comstock collection, along with the matching ribbon. The orange brackets,  the tag with the word "happy" and chipboard letters used for the word "DIRT" are also part of that same collection.
I made tags to go behind the title out of chipboard and covered them with paper. I used my walnut distressing ink to dirty up the edges of my tags, paper, and brackets.
The "playin in the mud" sticker and the "dign drt" license plate are made by Karen Foster designs.
Unfortunately I don't remember where I got the outdoor tag or the stinky dirty boys fabric sticker.

The poem on the page is something I wrote. I love to write poems, but it is super hard for me to think of them, I usually come up with them when I take showers!!! The best ideas are born in the shower!
