I love the 50's...even though I didn't even live during that decade. It reminds me of one of my favorite movies of all time--Grease! (Although I showed it to my kids and they were appalled that I could call it one of my favorites because technically it isn't all that nice...but what can I say?)
My daughter's church group had a daddy/daughter Sock Hop. All the dads and girls dressed in their best 50's attire and it turned out really fun...and out of it I got these cute pictures! She went with her best friend and her dad, which was also fun for her.
Aside from the plain colored cardstock, all the patterned paper on this page is from Paper Studio and I got it at Hobby Lobby. I love Paper Studio's coordinating regular paper--the price is good and it's all so cute! The ribbon is also Paper Studio and was intended to go with the paper, so all the matching was super easy. The letters for the title are glitter chipboard letters from Scrapworks, and the little musical notes were buttons that I cut the shank off of so they would lay flat.
These cute records aren't really scrapbooking supplies--they are from the party store and part of a long garland decoration that my sister bought for her son's birthday party. Once the party was over, we cut the garland apart to use for just such an occasion as this. They are super cute and no, they are not acid free but I'm just not all that concerned about it sometimes.
One of her leaders took lots of pictures of the event and emailed them to all the parents, so I managed to get these little pictures of the party that I could add to the page. I matted them in white so you could see them better. They aren't quite as small as they seem, but it is a little hard to see all the people in them. However, my choice was to put them on small or leave them off altogether, and I didn't want to do that.
I just recently bought the Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge...it's time for another Sock Hop! Or maybe she should get a part in the play Grease...as long as she only plays Patty Simcox...
